Join health coach Colleen DiPietro at your local farmers’ market this Saturday, May 19, and learn all about simple, tasty ways to incorporate more greens into your diet.
Green vegetables are the foods most missing in modern diets so Colleen will be talking about ways to incorporate leafy greens, especially kale, into a daily diet. Did you know that kale can be prepared a variety of ways and eaten at every meal? Imagine that! Beginning at 10am, the local health coach will prepare kale 3 ways while offering recipes and tips on adding a little GREEN into breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
“Buying local is very important to me because it not only supports my health by eating seasonal, organic, and fresh ingredients, but it supports my community. When I heard that the CHCM was opening in my neighborhood I knew I had to get involved. It has been exciting seeing it grow each year.”
Colleen offers some basic cooking tips for families and seniors:
- Know how long things will take to make: distinguish between preparation and cooking time.
- Keep it simple: recipes can be intimidating, especially if ingredient list is lengthy, so try to cook with 3-4 ingredients max.
- Cook 1 time for every 2 meals – a strategy known as “batch cooking”: have dinner and lunch prepared and simplify your life!
