Boy, oh, boy, was I lucky to be invited to Kid Power‘s annual Harvest Dinner last night. The evening included a slam poetry performance, a few dance troupes, and a slideshow interspersed with commentary from students, staff, and volunteers. And, and dinner, of course. The menu was filled with delicious dishes, featuring food grown and cooked by the elementary and middle school students involved in Kid Power’s Veggie Time program:
My favorite course: the kale chips. No, no, wait: the pasta with pesto. No, I’m sure it was the zucchini muffins:
Good food for all. I’ve rarely seen kids scarf so much healthy food so quickly… and then ask for more!
I’m hoping they bring along some of the recipes when the dynamic staff, volunteers, and kiddos from Kid Power set up at the CHCM community table this weekend. Stop by, say hello, and learn about Kid Power’s awesome work with students in the Columbia Heights area.
